Christmas in Steamboat

Merry Christmas to All.

It's been much too long since we have been able to share a snow-filled holiday with the Heitmans. We arrived the Wednesday prior and are leaving the Saturday after Chistmas. It has been such a wonderful vacation for our family. Garrick finally got to relax and I got to have a 2nd Mommy (aka Mimi) around to help. Jack and June had a chance to experience the infamous Steamboat "Champagne Powder" and really enjoyed playing outside. We rode the bus, eat a ton, rode the Gondola, ate some more, worked on crafts, ate and opened presents. Aunt Mere and Uncle Joey came over a couple of times and got to spend good time with the kiddo's. June instantly love Aunt Mere and was sad each time she had to leave.

We hope it won't be another 3 years until were back again.

Love, us

Idle hands...

So, on days that we don't have something to occupy ourselves...this is what we do. Mr. Mustacho hung out for the day and then made his exit around bathtime. June would have had one too, but it sure is hard to get an little one to hold still for artist purposes.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today was Jack's first acting job (of many, I'm sure). His school had their Thanksgiving play and Jack was one of the Indians who welcomed the Pilgrims. They worked all week on their lines and where they would stand. Unfortunately I cannot share with you what those lines were, something about 9 three year-olds trying to all speak in unison...

We then shared in a huge feast and had a wonderful time.

Halloween

Happy November to everyone...the frenzy begins!

We had a GREAT Halloween. Our church held it's 1st annual Trunk-or-Treat and the whole town was invited. When the dust settled (drought humor) the final head count was in the 600's. Pretty amazing for a small little chuch like us. God is good!! Jack and June had a ball, there were so many kids and fun things to do. Oh, and candy...how silly of me. The youth of our chuch have taken a liking to our kids and vice versa. It was not an odd sight to see one of the girls running around holding June or helping Jack on the Bounce House slide. It was so wonderful to have a safe, loving place for our kids to play and enjoy Halloween.

Hope you all had a great night as well!

...our leading lady

June is coming into her own, for those of you that haven't seen her in awhile. She and I get to spend a lot of time just the two of us with Jack at school now. This is perfectly timed with the "I do not want to be left alone" phase of toddlerhood. She is determined to get run over in busy parking lots and roll down our driveway (some of you will understand this more than others)...she refuses to be held ANYMORE!! Unless she wants you to hold her...it's a very fine line and we walk it carefully.

September brings...

Well, September was a BIG month for the Heitmans. Jack started preschool!!! He is lucky enough to be going with his best friend, Katie, and they are in the same class. Actually, they have become somewhat of a sensation at Bethel Methodist. At any given time, Tuesday thru Thursday between the hours of 9 and noon you may hear "JackandKatie" and some sort of direction afterward. Katie's mom and I take turns driving the kiddo's to school. It is working out really well for both of us. We get to spend alone time with the babies and try our hardest to be cool when it's our turn behind the wheel.

Arizona in August??

Yes, crazy as it sounds, me and the kiddo's visited the grandparents in Phoenix during the hottest part of the year. Of course, it is hot all the time, so "hottest" is relative. Jack and June had the best time with Poppi & Gram. June took a little while to warm up, but once she did, she was Poppi's girl. We all got spoiled completely and loved every minute of it. Poor Dad was all by himself back in S.C., but he has a secret project that kept him busy.

It sure was fun, but it's nice to be back home.

Camping in Black Mt., N.C.

Hello All..During the end of July, we Heitmans went on a camping trip. We kind of crashed a long on-going party of dear friends of ours. The Essig (Jack's best friend Jed) family and friends have been going to the same campground in the Mt. Mitchell area of Black Mt., N. Carolina for many years. It is a mission to include more friends and family every year...be it by marriage, birth or new friends. We feel honored to have been invited and will be back next year.

Hello All....we had a great day of boating with Garrick's boss Bob (and his wife Audrey). We weren't sure how the kids would do, but we worried for nothing. Jack and June are just crazy about the boat. They both had the best time, June especially loved the wind in her face. We docked and had a picnic...Oscar Mayer sure does taste good off the grill in the great outdoors. After a bit more sailing, the kiddo's fell asleep in our arms and we knew what a blessed life the Lord has given us.

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Garrick got to work on Jack's bed, and it is now ready to be assembled (pics to follow). I got to finish up quilt's for the Fader boys and mail them just in time...before they leave for Africa. On Monday, we took the kids to Congaree National Forest. It's a great park with lots of history and trails and a lake filled with turtles...who LOVE pretzels.

Hope you'all had great weekends also.
Love, K

So it's been a busy few months. Jack turned 3. He got many wonderful gifts, I think his favorites are a Peter Pan book and movie and his Superman jammies. The Easter bunny stopped by while the kids were sleeping. June loved the krinkly paper and colorful eggs. Mimi, Papa and their new baby Sammy came to visit. Sammy and June share the same (exact) birthday...as you can see they are kindred spirits.

Life is blessed, thank you for sharing it with us.

June "Shutter" Bug

June is quickly growing into quite a little person. She now gets around the living room in a pre-crawl, push & pull kind of thing. She loves to smile, and takes after her brother when she sees a camera.

SpaceBoy!

Garrick received yet another box from the Big Brown Truck....who needs to recycle?

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Today Kelly will be running in her 1st Get to the Green 5k. It is a huge event that takes place in an area of downtown Columbia known as 5 Points. It should be a great time, it is the 5th anniversary of the run and 25th of the festival. She'll be running with a great friend (Bethany, pic at right).
Love to all.

What's mine is yours...

Jack & June are becoming the best of friends. The love to share, June mostly.
God has certainly blessed us with these two.
